Conference Workshops

Session 2

Session 1 | Session 2 | Session 3 | Session 4

GENERAL

Room 38 – ABIDE with Jesus through Corporate Worship
Daniel and Amanda Bowman, Berlin Baptist Church
ABIDE = Always Belonging, Intentional Dedication Everyday Using Richard Foster’s book, Celebration of Discipline, and the Bible, we’ll talk about how to prepare our hearts for corporate worship, practice body postures that can strengthen worship, and discuss how to offer a sacrifice of praise.

Room 50 – Eyewitness History
Bob Gillespie, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church
Those who disbelieve the Bible have devised another explanation of how we got here without God, and they have been successful in convincing generations that their belief is scientific fact. Many Christians today are convinced that God must have used billions of years of natural processes when He created, and the book of Genesis is really not important. However, we have an eyewitness to all of history from the beginning to the end. This talk will answer many questions about Genesis and connect the literal Adam with our literal Savior.

Room 31 – Satan’s Top Ten
Eric Strattan, Bridge Bible Church
Join us for a presentation and discussion on ten of the most prevalent internal and external threats to church unity and witness.

Room 58 – Make Abortion Unthinkable: Equipping the Church to Be Silent No More
Tammy Erste, Grand Rapids Right to Life
How the church handles abortion and the abortion rights enshrined into our state constitution in a post-Roe culture is crucial for the church moving forward. The late former abortionist, Dr. Thomas Gordon, once told a sidewalk counselor when he was invited to church, “I will go to church when the church stops coming to me.” Devastating to hear, but unfortunately, true. How did the church get here? Silence has played a pivotal role. This workshop is designed to leave you encouraged and equipped to remain silent no more.

LEADERSHIP

Room 52 – Group Leadership Development
Trent Heaton, Magnify Church
A crash-course in recruiting, training, and supporting leaders as they seek to serve those in your church.

Room 64 – Listen Well to Improve Your Leadership in Ministry
Tim Jackson, Still Waters Counseling/Ada Bible Church
Listening well is a core biblical value, and yet more often than not, we’re oblivious as to what makes a good listener. Come and learn how to hear your own voice in a way that opens you up to hearing others. Listening well to your team enhances overall ministry impact.

Room 30 – Rethinking Pastoral Transitions
Doug Crawford, Bridge Fellowship
One of the most vulnerable times for a church is when they are without a shepherd. Knowing that pastoral transitions are going to happen, how do we prepare for them? How can we grow through them? What are the shepherd’s roles and responsibilities in a transition? What are the church’s roles and responsibilities in a transition?

DISCIPLESHIP

Room 56 – Making Choices for Godly Living
Terry Burlingame, Jamestown Baptist Church
The situations and difficulties we face are often not what was planned or expected; they can be difficult and discouraging, confusing and complicated. During this session we will consider lessons learned from Joseph on how to make choices which will lead to both pleasing the Lord and giving the believer freedom and encouragement to move forward in each new chapter of life.

Room 119 – Faithful to the End
Gail Ramish, Living Out 3:18 Ministries/Ada Bible Church
This session will give you thoughtful and practical ways to tend to your own heart and life in the midst of ministry so you can avoid burnout and make it to the end with your joy, health, and family intact.

Room 32 – Intentional and Amazing Groups
Doug Burrier, Sustainable Discipleship
Can guys and gals do discipleship together? Join us for an interactive talk about things that work, things that don’t, and why. You might be surprised by the results of years of research and listening to other disciple-makers. Discover how to build amazing groups that get the job done. Get the benefits of one-to-one discipleship without sacrificing the power of a group.

Room 54 – How to Do Daily Devotions (HD3)
Ben Marx, First Baptist Church of Holland
“All I want to do is read my Bible…not a bunch of other books.” “What is a way I can read Scripture with my friend(s)?” “I’m married, but we have no idea how to study the Bible together.” How do you do it? What does that look like? Whether you want to study by yourself or want to learn how to study with one or more other people, come see an easy but effective method that is truly a ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution.

MISSIONS & EVANGELISM

Room 122 – Sharing the Gospel with Confidence
Rochelle Visser, Camp Michawana
Do you want to share the gospel but don’t know where to start? Are you nervous that you might not be able to answer tough questions? Do YOU know but want to help others get passionate? Come get equipped with tools, tips, and truth for you to personally share or to train kids, teens, and adults in your church to boldly and confidently share the gospel.

Room 131 – Correcting Modern Myths about Missions
Kelly Fath, West Cannon Baptist Church
Using the book, Is the Commission Still Great? as a catalyst, we’ll discuss some of the common misperceptions about missions today, including: missions today should be short-term only; sending long-term missionaries costs too much money, missions isn’t for Westerners anymore (we should only support national workers); and everything we do is missions.

CHILDREN

Room 126 – Teaching Meaningful & Memorable Bible Lessons
Danielle Vaughn, Highland Hills Baptist Church
Come hear tips on how to make teaching your Bible stories vibrant and meaningful to students in preschool through elementary age.

Room 128 – Connecting the Dots
Kimberly Buffinga, MI Bible Clubs
Many children today, even from good churches, fail to see the Bible as a complete story. They see Bible stories in isolation instead of seeing how they all connect into one big story, the story of Jesus. Come learn how to make each lesson you teach focus on the big picture so the children see that all the dots lead to Christ.

Room 132 – The Why of Child Protection Policies/Background Checks (Part 1 of 2)
Jeremy Herron, Providence Church Frisco, TX
Join us to learn about abuse and child protection for ministry leaders. We believe that child protection is important for ministry leaders because every person is created in the image of God. Furthermore, we believe that child protection is a matter of Great Commission significance and biblical stewardship. In this child protection workshop, you will learn the basics of child protection while raising awareness for the importance of abuse prevention and child protection.

STUDENT

Room 129 – Understanding Gen Z and Discipleship
Matt Wallace, Cornerstone University
Using current research data from Our Daily Bread, the Barna Group, and others, this workshop will discuss practical, effective ways to engage in discipleship with young adults labeled Gen Z or late millennials. The goal will be to understand some generational trends, how they view church, the Bible, and faith, and how to use this information to be more effective with the Gospel and discipleship.

WORSHIP

Room 124 – Worship and Word: an Essential Partnership
Chad Vitarelli, Bella Vista Church
Those who prompt worship through music on Sunday mornings may spend nearly as much time on the platforms of our churches as the teaching pastor. We’ll discuss some ways for music leaders to work effectively with their teaching pastors to plan and execute services that are a response to God’s revelation.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY

Room 66 – Learn to Live Beyond Emotional Pain
Darlene Larson, Hearts With A Purpose
Sadness? Loneliness? Boredom? Is God able to fill the soul holes? Yes, He is. Learn how to move through and shift from the emotional pain and experience peace, clarity, purpose, passion, joy, and great contentment.

Room 34 – Ministering to Women in Difficult Relationships
Lisa Heim, True North Ministries/Magnify Church
Relationships are often the greatest source of pain for a woman. What do you do when a woman confides that she is struggling in a relationship? How can you best offer support? What sort of direction does she need? What doesn’t she need? This workshop will cover the basics in offering soul-care to a woman in need.
